The Peace Rally was an opportunity to stand united under the theme of prayer, purpose and passion and for the peace of our City. The Rally featured a moving and uplifting perfomance from former Sudanese Warchild Emmanuel Jal, now a global human rights and peace activist. The family of Carl Asiedu, 18 who was murdered earlier on this year was invited to the stage with Olympic winner Champion Christine Ohorougu, made an emotional appeal to young Londoners for an end to the tragedy of innocent lives lost to gun and knife crime.

  

  

Peace Concert
Up to 10,000 people made their way to Trafalgar Square to be entertained by chart topping artists Sway,

Ironik, Donaeo, Indian star Des C. Other artists who graced the occasion with their unique style included afro funk band True Ingredients, indie rockers Da Thirst, Little Ghost, The Phoenix Rose and Jaya amongst others.

 

 

 

Fashion Show

Cellar Door, Elevation Networks and the Collective collaborated to produce the GIFTED Fashion show as part of this year's Trafalgar Square event. The fashion extravaganza developed with the strap line "True Fashion has no barriers". highlighted issues of diversity within the Fashion industry and showcased

emerging talent from Newham College.

 

 

 

An array of talented Londoners with positive and inspiring messages from Boroughs across the City took part in the Talent Quest auditions in Regents Hall. 12 finalists picked by a panel of judges of industry professionals had the opportunity to perform alongside some of their musical heroes.

Peace Debate
The Lewis Media Centre in London's Millbank was the venue for the Peace Debate. Held on the international Day of Peace, a day when arms are laid down in conflict zones across the world.

"Is peace more than the absence of conflict?" was the question to be discussed and probed by the distinguished panel which included Major General Tim Cross, peace activist Jo Berry, journalist and Trident IAG member Ejos Ubiribo, Metropolitan Police commander Stephen Kavanagh, Dr Waqar Azmi OBE, editor of RWD magazine Hattie Collins and from the Somali Youth Forum Mohammed Aden Hassan.

The Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel, Holborn, was the setting for this year's prestigious Peace Awards and Funraising Dinner. Hosted by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Kiss 100's Neev, the event saw 11 Londoners awarded for the exceptional work they carry out in their local communities. The guest of honour the Home Secretary the RT. Hon Alan Johnson, gave a keynote to address the guests, while Richard Taylor, Brooke Kinsella and Christine Ohorugo all spoke of how humbling it was to be in the presence of such selfless and inspiring individuals.
